We offer over a dozen Merkur safety razors. When selecting a Merkur, consider the following features:- Regular or Heavy Duty (HD)Style - The HD razors are thicker and weigh 30 to 40 grams more than the regular razors.
- Length - Almost all the Merkur razors are either 3 or 3 3/4 inches long. The 3 3/4 inch handle length is called a "Long Handle".
- Shaving Head Bar - Safety razors are designed with a small bar that keeps the blade slightly off your skin. Merkur razors are either called "Closed Comb" (smooth bar), "Open Comb" (bar with teeth), or "Slant" (smooth bar at an angle). The Closed Comb is the easiest to use while the Open Comb is more aggressive and requires more skill. The Slant is for heavy daily growth beards and requires the most skill.
